PTO Fundraising Is So Important!

Please support Jefferson students by participating in our fundraisers throughout the year. Our fundraising provides incentives for our students and staff in our efforts to promote positive behavior and morale here at our school. We have a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) system in place that our students love and special activities at selected grade levels. Let us know if you can assist us during the year with the various fundraising efforts.

The program was established in 1985 and alternates each year between elementary (even years) and secondary (odd years) schools. The schools are recognized as distinguished for four years, and after that the recognition may be renewed.

Congratulations to our teachers, students, staff, and parents!

Jefferson Elementary is one of the 278 schools being recognized in this year's second annual Top Los Angeles County Public Schools report, created in partnership with the University of Southern California Sol Price Center for Social Innovation and Rossier School of Education Center for Education Policy, Equity and Governance.

Jefferson made the list based on its strong results in English and/or math proficiency for low-income African American and/or low-income Latino students in 2018-19. We believe in the incredible potential of every child. Jefferson provides the type of education that gives students great life choices and pushes them to achieve their full potential. This is such an honor and privilege to receive. We will all continue to thrive to provide the best education for all students.

The Jefferson teachers and staff would like to thank parents for all of their support and guidance to their children during distance learning. As you know we fully understand the amount of mental & physical energy, emotion, and time it takes to support your children with academics and their social and emotional wellbeing. But we couldn't provide such a quality education without your help. It looks like we will be starting out the 2023-2021 year with distance learning. Your energy, support, and enthusiasm will be needed so when we do come back on campus, your children will be well prepared and not miss a beat.

What’s the most accurate predictor of academic achievement? It’s not socioeconomic status, nor how prestigious the school is that a child attends. The best predictor of student success is the extent to which families encourage learning at home and involve themselves in their child’s education.

When parents are engaged in their children’s school lives, students have the home support and knowledge they need to not only finish their assignments, but also develop a lifelong love of learning. So get active and get involved. Whether it be in person when school starts back on campus or at the start of the year while we are doing distance learning.

We are committed to building a team effort among families, staff, district, and the community to assist all students in developing skills to become independent, self-sufficient, successful adults who will contribute responsibly in the community. Jefferson School embraces a vision of excellence, and a commitment to every learner. Our role as educators is to empower every child with a solid educational foundation, serving as a key to open the doors of opportunity and future possibilities. Through a rigorous curriculum, collaboration, and trust within the school community, we at Jefferson are committed to ensuring that all learners will not only meet, but exceed grade level standards. Our VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) Program provides enrichment experiences for students and families. This program sets the foundation for a love of the arts that will be sustained throughout our students’ lives.
